Anti-Corruption Efforts: New Law – New Mechanisms
The Law No. O‘RQ-1155 signed yesterday by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aims to further strengthen the anti-corruption system and ensure transparency and openness in the activities of state bodies.
🛡 The most important innovations of the Law include the following:
— An electronic register of persons who have committed corruption-related crimes will be maintained;
— Persons included in the register will not be admitted to public service, cannot run for elective positions, and will not participate in public procurements;
— For the first time, the Criminal Code provides a legal definition of the concept of “corruption-related crimes”, which includes 18 types of offenses;
— The legal framework for compliance and internal anti-corruption control systems in state bodies has been strengthened;
— Early conditional release or replacement of punishment with a lighter one will not apply to 5 types of corruption crimes;
— The Anti-Corruption Agency will develop corruption risk maps for state bodies, territories, and sectors.
